When Windows starts the screen saver, it is run with a lower priority and could also be on. The ASUS monitor mentioned is actually LED, however the same applies. SCR file runs it as a standard program, with a normal priority. Those of my notebooks also, those are LCD screens.

IMO screensavers are not needed with LCD and only shorten a LCD screens life. Really I am a newbie to KNOPPIX/Linux I need to understand how to start a new file or what to open and what to click in KNOPPIX.
